Music Ministry at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church

MUSIC MINISTRY

This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia (ELW pg 101)

Worship at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church is always a musical festival.   In Colossians 3:16, St. Paul instructs the church to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.  Martin Luther states that, “Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.” Our musical offerings in traditional worship include our pipe organ and handbell and vocal choirs. Our contemporary style worship services include a praise team with instruments and singers. We strive to use God’s gift of music to his children in and outside of our worship services.

Trumpets and pipes! Loud clashing symbols! Sing to the Lord a new song!” (ELW 731)

At CDLC there are many ways to join in the church’s song. In addition to giving praise to the Lord through congregational singing, everyone is invited to participate in the choral and instrumental programs of the church.

When in Our Music God is Glorified (ELW 851

The sanctuary at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church is acoustically one of the best performance “rooms” in the greater Milwaukee area. This was achieved in 1989 when the members of the church consulted with Riedel & Associates for an acoustical renovation. The sound absorbing ceiling tile was removed and the ceiling was plastered to allow for an acoustical "echo". The carpeted hospitality area at the rear of the church along with remaining acoustical tile in the balcony balances the sound in the nave. Combined with new church pews in the nave and a complete redesign of the chancel, the sanctuary at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church has a reverberation that is acoustically excellent.

“God is here! As we your people meet to offer praise and prayer.” (ELW 526)

As we continue into the 21st century, our music programs continue to be an important and vital part of our core worship life at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church. We encourage you make your life a song to God by joining us with any of your God given musical talents, no matter how small they may be! This is an excellent way to nurture your spirit and develop skill and discipline of mind and voice. We endeavor to provide singers and instrumentalists with a variety of experiences that will equip them to fully use their voices and talents in praise of God.
