CDLC is building a preschool in Tanzania in recognition of our 75th Anniversary.
• The two-room school will be built next to a Lutheran church in King’ori, near Mt. Kilimanjaro. It will be staffed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania.
• CDLC will partner with Brick by Brick for Tanzania, a nonprofit foundation associated with Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend, WI, that is dedicated to the mission of building preschools.
• Through this project CDLC will also develop a relationship with the Lutheran Church in King’ori for the purpose of mutual growth and understanding.
• The estimated cost for the school is $14,000.
CDLC plans to raise the funds through Project 12 Baskets
• Members and friends of CLDC will donate property to Project 12 Baskets, which markets the donated items on the internet and returns 70% of the sale to the church.
• Each donated item should have a sale value of at least $20.00. Therefore, this is not considered a rummage sale.
• No clothing should be donated unless it is sports memorabilia with value as a collectible.
• Items with sentimental value will have less value to the buyer than to the donor, so think twice about donating such items.
• Items in these categories have a good potential for raising significant funds: cameras, power tools, computer equipment, video games, artwork, home/personal electronics, antiques, toys & dolls, event tickets, furniture, sporting goods, jewelry, hand bags, musical instruments, and vehicles.
• Items may be brought to the church by October 11.
• After the sale of the donated items, each donor will receive a statement indicating the sale price of the item. The donor may claim this amount as a charitable gift and a tax deduction.
• Monetary donations are welcome. Checks should be made out to Capitol Drive Lutheran Church, designated for Brick by Brick.
